Lessons on where to find cats. Part II

At your feet.

This might not apply to everyone. I am particularly popular amongst cats.

Sigh

I spent last week going back and forth between home and the hospital. My dad has cancer and was in for his fifth round of chemotherapy of the summer. He’s not going to get well, it’s at a point where they can’t cure him, just try to keep it at bay. I just finished school and I should get a job. But then I’d have to leave, because I don’t live here. But summer is over and I just made an appointment with a temp agency.

Elements of autumn on a summer day

Autumn

Autumn is sneaking up on me. The birch trees have already started to yellow. I guess I’ll have to find a job. Of course I do want a job. I just don’t want to leave.

Feet firmly planted in the air

Feet in the air

Courtesy of the swing in my grandfather’s old birch tree. Today is his 80th birthday.

My grandfather

He’s a retired fisherman and he refers to himself as “that old cusk-fisher”. His hobbies include taking pictures, burning them on CDs and driving around handing them out to family and/or strangers. He also enjoys planting flowers, feeding his seagull (a gigantic bird that hangs out on his garage roof) and picking up hitchhikers.

Happy birthday Besten!

Lovely day to scratch one’s ear

To quote my dad:
The sun is shining. The birds are screaming. Lovely day to scratch one’s ear.

Perhaps it doesn’t translate well..
